Send Iberian Ham to the UK — Customs, VAT & Delivery
Yes — you can buy Spanish Iberian ham online and have it shipped to the United Kingdom without restrictions on the product itself. Hernández Jiménez ships to the UK regularly. This guide covers the rate, delivery time, post-Brexit import taxes and health certificates, so you know exactly what to expect before you order.
Rate and delivery time
| Rate to the United Kingdom | €45 |
| Estimated delivery | 2–6 working days from Guijuelo |
| Courier | International carrier (FedEx / UPS type) with full tracking |
| Packaging | Insulated food-grade box |
Orders placed from Thursday at 16:00 are dispatched the following Monday — we don’t send on Fridays to avoid goods spending the weekend in a depot. If you specifically need a Friday dispatch, just mention it in your order.
Cured ham does not need refrigeration: it travels safely in our insulated packaging and arrives in perfect condition.
Customs and VAT after Brexit
Since January 2021, shipments from Spain to the UK are an international export. Here is what that means in practice:
- Import tariff: 0%. Under the EU–UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA), cured Iberian ham enters the United Kingdom duty-free. There are no additional product tariffs.
- Spanish VAT (IVA): 0%. Exports outside the EU are zero-rated for Spanish VAT, so the invoice shows 0% IVA — you do not pay the Spanish 10% food VAT.
- UK VAT: 20%. The recipient is liable for UK VAT at 20% on the declared customs value. For orders up to £135 this is typically collected at point of sale; above £135 the courier may collect it on delivery. We always declare the correct value on the customs invoice.
The net effect: you pay the product price in euros plus €45 shipping, and UK VAT (20%) is applied on arrival — no hidden Spanish taxes on top.

Health and export certificates
Since April 2024, food products of animal origin — including cured ham — require Export Health Certificates (EHC) to enter the United Kingdom. Hernández Jiménez fully complies with the veterinary export regulations in force and provides all required documentation with every UK shipment.
For the official export requirements, see the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture’s guidance on agri-food exports to the United Kingdom.
What you can order
Our full range ships to the UK: whole Iberian hams and shoulders, boneless vacuum-packed pieces, and vacuum-sliced packs. For UK deliveries we particularly recommend:
- Vacuum-sliced packs — longest shelf life once opened, optimal for transit
- Boneless vacuum-packed pieces — easier to handle on arrival, same quality
